Engineering & Quality Manager wanted - Permanent, Leicester 

 

EMBS are in partnership with a well established, growing, precision engineering company that is one of the market leaders in manufacturing complex, detailed components for some of the most lucrative global customers.

Operating in various industries but predominantly Aerospace, our client is seeking an Engineering Quality Manager to join the business on a permanent basis.

This person will work closely with the Quality HSE Manager and therefore will lead the engineering and Product Quality functions to ensure products are delivered on time, within budget and at the required level first time.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing a comprehensive and documented set of Engineering and Quality data to control and improve the performance of Quality, Cost and Delivery in line with required targets and standards:
  • Lead New Production Development and Introduction (NPDI) through:
    • Effective Project Management 
    • Manage manufacturing and quality engineering processes to control all aspect of component manufacturing
    • Deployment of measurement system analysis in line with AS13003
    • Ensuring the completion of FAIRs using AS9102 and Customer Approved Documentation
    • Deployment of PFMEA
    • Development of robust, cost effective and appropriate inspection methodologies for inspecting products during product life cycle
    • Ensuring CMM programs are available using an optimised inspection methodology 
    • Lead problem solving activities associated to NPI
    • Support the bid / no bid process 
    • Support the justification and commissioning of new plant and equipment through allocation of suitable Manufacturing Engineering resource as required
  • Attend the Daily Operations Meetings
  • Principle Engineering & Product Quality point of contact for significant customer and supplier related issues
  • Participate in "Lean Events" to improve any aspect of performance associated with NPI
  • Develop employees

 

Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong background in precision engineering / manufacturing - ideally aerospace
  • Previous experience in a similar role 
  • Understand of both Engineering and Quality however a bias towards one or the other is acceptable
  • A strong leader who has managed various disciplines 
  • Worked within a fast-paced, pressurised environment where it has been very target driven
  • Excellent communicator at all levels
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with previous experience of delivering results
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge
