Reporting to the Managing Director for a major player in Aerospace precision engineering,  this organisation employs over 100 people in Nottingham, just off the M1. Following on from a multimillion-pound cash injection, an array of state of the art machines are now in place and further investment is being made across the quality function.  

The Role: As a high profile leader and manager, you will have the backing of the MD and the board. You will use your influence to affect change, driving the highest levels of quality throughout the production environment. You will develop strategic approaches and methodologies that will impact the longer-term direction of quality and production but you’ll also be looking for ways to make an instant impact through marginal gains and the quick wins! 

There will be significant process change and you’ll look to upskill people for the now as well as giving them the capabilities for the future. 

You will build great relationships with senior stakeholders and heads of department to ensure that changes are embraced at all levels, championing change is what you'll do!  It'll be challenging and exciting and with a full order book, they are looking for someone who knows how to overcome challenges, find solutions, implement change and motivate others.

As a Senior / Head of Quality you will have ultimate responsibility for the following: 

  • Managing change, implementing best practice with a continuous improvement mindset 

  • Implement an AS9100 QMS 

  • Champion a PDCA approach to identify problems, issues & opportunities

  • Ensure products are delivered i.a.w. customer requirements (Aerospace, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Aerospace)

  • Identify CI opportunities to reduce the cost of poor quality (CoPQ) impacts

  • Improve performance using appropriate LEAN & Quality Improvement tools

  • Report performance at management/board meetings, customer scorecards, SC21, AS9001

  • Manage Inspection Function

  • Lead and Manage a team of 20 heads

  • Budget management (personnel, equipment, assets

  • Use KPI's to monitor performance, analyse data, identify trends and patterns

  • Min 3 years as a Quality Manager

  • Proven track record of application of Lean & Quality improvement processes

  • Experience of acting as a leader / proactive change agent that is not afraid to challenge the status quo

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, train and coach others

  • Track record and demonstrable experience of achieving quality, cost and delivery improvements

  • Understanding of LEAN & DMAIC

  • Ability to benchmark appropriately against marketplace & development frameworks (SC21, EFQM)
