You will work alongside the Development and Testing teams and take responsibility for all post release software support, bug fixing, product enhancements and testing. This is an opportunity to move into a full time role in either Software Development or Testing within 12 to 18 months but coming through a route that will give you a diverse range of new skills and experience that will include:
Software Development - Coding, design, user interface design UI and user experience development UX. Testing - Manual and Automated testing, learning how to write test automation scripts and building testing tools that will speed up and automate the process. Database development, troubleshooting.
You will also work as an interface, liaising with the customer, development and testing teams and the support team. You’ll take on problems, figuring out why the product isn’t performing in the way it should before resolving the issue yourself by writing and testing new code or escalating the issue to the software team for a complete rewrite.
The role is diverse, where no two days will be the same. It’s highly technical and multifaceted and also requires you to have an appetite for self development, i.e. gaining new skills and knowledge. You will be highly logical and analytical, capable of solving problems, working methodically and in partnership with other teams and departments. This will involve having extremely good communication skills.
What will you need to bring to the table?
Commercial experience of web development - tech stack is not important
Commercial experience of testing - manual or automated
Any application support, troubleshooting, bug fixing skills
A customer facing personality, professional and communicative
A desire to want to get on and develop new skills
We are looking for two Junior Application Engineers for starts in January. The position comes with exceptional training and some flexible working. It’s based outside of Nottingham but is accessible via public transport. Exceptional working environment, free car parking with excellent onsite gym.
