Overview: You will lead the UK development team and coordinate the activities of an offshore Dev team while working alongside the CEO to shape the future direction of products and technologies. Your endeavours will enable this multi-million-pound price comparison platform to grow and evolve. With significant growth expected this organisation wants to enter new territories across Europe, US and Asia but needs you to develop a bulletproof product and user experience before pushing things forward.
This role and organisation is ideally suited to an experienced/senior developer who is keen to move into a Senior Leadership role while remaining technical/hands-on.
The successful applicant will report to the CEO to shape the direction of the online / e-commerce products, constantly innovating to ensure they remain a market leader in a fast-moving sports betting marketing industry. You’ll be a well-rounded Lead/Senior full-stack developer with strong PHP knowledge and experience in delivering well-architected systems, including API driven micro-services. You’ll have an appreciation of UI/UX and be able to use your front-end skillset to build a high-performance, SEO-friendly web application.

You are a senior software engineer developing code on a day-to-day basis and looking for that next career step. We are a small team, so you’ll need to be able to self-start and manage individual projects from inception to completion. We have adopted the Agile Scrum methodology and will expect any candidate to be experienced in Scrum ideally with distributed near-shore development teams. You will also have excellent communication and relationship building skills.
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:
Architecting systems that will deliver the business strategy.
Building maintainable, testable, resilient software systems including monitoring and operational impact throughout the process.
Owning the end to end software delivery process.
Leading the development team – mentoring developers and ensuring best practices and coding standards are met.
You will need to be able to:
Develop both server & client-side code.
Write clean, well-documented code to specification with high unit tests coverage.
Develop responsive front-ends based on UX/UI designs.
Analyse project requirements, wireframes, and APIs (whether internal or external) to create on estimates and delivery plan.
Identify bottlenecks, refactor and optimise existing applications.
Research and share industry trends and innovations.
Strive constantly to improve the health of our applications with forward-thinking code improvements, process refinement, and new ideas.
You'll be required to work in Leeds but the role will have lots of flexible working and remote working.
