MPS Planner wanted - Permanent, Sheffield


EMBS are in partnership with a precision engineering company that is a specialist in manufacturing detailed, complex components for a number of industries including Aerospace & Nuclear.

Due to continued growth and the recent win of large new orders, our client is currently in the market for an MPS Planner to join their existing team on a permanent basis.

The main purpose of this role will be to create and maintain the Master Production Schedule in their MRP system, developing a smooth production profile and manufacturing strategy against resource capacity; supporting sales requirements and internal targets. Primarily you will be responsible for the scheduling production launch and purchasing demand signals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


  • Maintain MPS and MRP ensuring demand signals are updated and aligned with customer requirements.

  • Respond to schedule movement and manage exceptions with sales co-ordinators and buyers. Responsible for WIP levels and finished goods inventory levels effectively communicating production launch strategies.  

  • Creating MPS and MRP works orders for release to shop floor.

  • Responsible for maintaining MRP and schedule parameters.

  • Completing weekly MRP and schedule routines supporting purchasing and production planning functions.

  • Maintain and conduct a thorough analysis of weekly load and capacity ensuring assumptions are updated for review. 

  • Highlighting and proposing solutions for underutilised or over loaded resources.

  • Create quarterly load plans to target production standard recovery ensuring requirements are communicated and fully understood by all parties.

  • Analyse and prepare S&OP details for senior reviews.


A successful applicant MUST be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in Master Scheduling, Demand Planning or Supply Planning roles is essential

  • Background in working within a precision engineering / manufacturing business 

  • Strong MRP / ERP knowledge

  • Ability to create production forecasts - ideally within a precision engineering company

  • Sound understanding of load and capacity tools

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions

  • Confident working in a fast paced environment, adhering to deadlines and targets
