NPI Buyer's position available, Birmingham, Permanent


EMBS are in partnership with a leading precision engineering company that specialises in the manufacture of complex, detailed components for a number of lucrative, globally recognised customers across various industries, including aerospace.

Our client is seeking an NPI Buyer to join their Purchasing & Supply Chain department, working on a permanent basis at their site in Birmingham.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Develop a robust supply chain strategy that captures QCD requirements for the NPDI process

  • Responsible for the cross-functional working between functions through concurrent engineering to protect the companies commercial position within the supply chain

  • Responsible for ensuring the supply chain has sufficient capacity and resource to support part industrialisation

  • Manage supplier performance through SMART metrics ensuring our customers requirements are protected and supply chain risks actively managed

  • Execute governance process that provides effective programme management of key supply chain activities

  • Attend all standard diary meetings that govern NPDI process and be able to concisely articulate current status, risks and opportunities

  • Adopt close working relations with Business Development and Engineering to ensure key priorities are aligned

  • Accountable for compliance to company policies, processes and procedures, ensuring all purchasing records and documentations are correct and maintained in line with regulatory requirements

  • Nurture effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external in order to support functional priorities

  • ​​Identify and implement best practices within procurement to reduce and maintain competitive advantage for the business through evaluation of total cost or acquisition

Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in Supply Chain and Procurement within a precision engineering, manufacturing environment - ideally Aerospace

  • Procurement experience in an Aerospace, manufacturing environment

  • MCIPs qualified or equivalent - ideally

  • Program management experience

  • Experience of working within a dynamic environment where change requirements often occur

  • Ability to negotiate contractual terms

  • Proven track record in delivering results

  • Demonstrable achievement in continuous improvement and cost reductions

  • Ability to influence at all levels with appropriate communication and negotiation skills
