Planning / Manufacturing Engineer wanted! Permanent, Coventry based 

 

EMBS are working in partnership with a well established, growing precision engineering company that specialise in manufacturing medium sized, complex components for a number of industries, including aerospace.

Located on the outskirts of Coventry, this company boasts a strong reputation with their chosen markets on being able to deliver high quality, complex components to a number of lucrative customers across the globe.

Our client is looking to recruit a Planning / Manufacturing Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis to help and support the engineering department due to continued growth of both new and existing clients.

The purpose of this role is to optimise the sites performance and efficiency, ensuring that process flow, manufacturing methods, tooling fixtures and equipment utilistation are cost competitive and sustainable. 

The successful applicant will therefore effectively working with the part from stage drawings and will need to understand how it is made and what processes are needed in order to create the part to correct specification.

The business has both machining and fabrication / welding capabilities therefore ideally the successful candidate will have experience in both but we would consider applicants with STRONG fabrication / welding experience and no machining background.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations across the site involving machining & fabrication including Super Plastic Forming, hydro bulge, hot forming and welding, chemical milling, heat treatment and processing

  • Solve all aspects of manufacturing problems, in real time

  • Improve existing methods, tooling, fixtures and process flow to optimise company profitability, reduce lead times and achieve quality specifications across the existing product portfolio

  • Assist in the development of manufacturing processes and procedures during new product introduction programmes to achieve cost, delivery and quality specification targets

  • Attend Material Review Boards and take responsibility for providing sustainable fixes to manufacturing and processing problems by implementing corrective and preventative actions

  • Analyse Overall Equipment Efficiency reports and facilitate improved availability and utilisation

  • Carry out Six Sigma green belt projects under the direction of the Continuous Improvement Manager

  • Ensure that Total Preventative Maintenance is deployed on critical equipment and processes

  • Carry out work-motion-time-delay studies to verify costs, lines of balance and improvement opportunities

  • Accurately maintain bills of material, routings and process times in the company business system ‘EFACS’

  • Provide technical support for subcontractors and suppliers

  • Support Operations Managers, Engineering Lead and Continuous Improvement Manager in training other staff

  • Show other staff day-to-day duties as required

 

Successful candidates MUST be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong precision engineering background within a manufacturing engineering business which ideally produces parts for the Aerospace industry. Other precision engineering sectors will be considered. 

  • Sound understanding of Fabrication & Welding. 

  • Experience and knowledge of Machining is also desirable but not essential

  • Previous background of working within a Manufacturing / Production / Planning Engineering role 

  • Ability to understand and demonstrate a product life cycle within a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work in a fast paced organisation
