EMBS are working closely with a large, well renowned precision engineering company that is highly recognised for their manufacturing capabilities, producing detailed components for a number of industries including Aerospace.

Located in Hertfordshire near Gravely, our customer is seeking a new Production Manager to join them on a permanent basis.

The Production Manager leads and manages the day-to-day production operations for on-time delivery to their customers, while aligning tasks with company policies and procedures. Responsible for production reorganisation, managing vendors and consultants, as well as, internal employees.


Role responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Leads the Production Team in achieving tasks, schedules and goals
  • Confirms that resources are utilised effectively and drives improvements
  • Develops a world-class operations organization by providing training, coaching and counseling, and top grading as appropriate
  • Initiates plans and processes which minimise manufacturing costs through effective utilisation of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital
  • Ensures attainment of business objectives, and production schedules while ensuring product standards that meet or exceed customer’s expectations
  • Leads and directs work for a team of employees as defined by business needs
  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary


Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

Post-Secondary degree or relevant education combined with suitable on the job experience that will allow you to be successful within the role

  • Previous Production / Engineering or Manufacturing Management experience
  • Background in Manufacturing / Engineering in a make to order environment
  • Experience with and advanced training in Lean manufacturing concepts and techniques with significant exposure to kanban managed supply chain
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organisational problems
  • Computer proficient, including Microsoft Windows software application
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
